Policeman acquitted of bribery

KUALA LUMPUR: A police sergeant was acquitted by the Ampang Sessions Court of accepting RM1,000 bribe as an inducement for him to expedite the release of three Indonesian workers.
Megat Tharih was charged with accepting the money from Indonesian Misran Sikun as an inducement for him to expedite the release of three Indonesian workers, who had been charged at the Kajang magistrate's court for not having their passports and work permits.
He allegedly committed the offence at a Shell petrol station in Bandar Sg Long at 6.30pm on March 26, 2003.
