KUALA LUMPUR: Police investigating the rape of a 14-year-old schoolgirl discovered that while the victim was attacked, several other schoolchildren formed a human wall to shield the incident from others.
The incident took place on April 13 at a school in Rawang where the victim and her assailants were all classmates.
It was reported that the girl is now pregnant and checks at the hospital revealed that the assailants had also inserted a pencil into her private part.
It was also revealed that the girl had been sexually assaulted several times before, possibly by other culprits.
The girl lodged a report on Monday following which police picked up the boy who raped her.
In follow-up investigations, they nabbed six other classmates of the victim.
All seven, said to be Form Two students, have been remanded for a week to facilitate investigations.
Gombak deputy police chief Superintendent Rosly Hassan said the victim is undergoing counselling at the Selayang Hospital where she is warded.
"She is traumatised and we are trying to help her the best we can," said Rosly.
The girl is an orphan who has been staying in an orphanage since she was 9.
It was reported that she complained about the attack to the school caretaker on Monday who urged her to lodge a police report.
She confided to a caretaker on Monday after complaining of pain while urinating, and later lodged a police report.
